Frequently Asked Questions

Are wood countertops durable?

Yes. With the right species and finish, a solid wood top will last for decades. We use durable, water- and alcohol-resistant finishes on bars and food-safe oil finishes on prep surfaces.

Which wood is best for a kitchen island?

Black walnut, white oak and hard maple are our most popular island woods because they are hard, stable and beautiful. We'll show samples at your consultation.

Can you make a live-edge countertop?

Yes. We source live-edge slabs and build them into counters, bar tops and tables, stabilizing and finishing each slab in our shop.

How thick are your wood tops?

Most tops are 1-1/2 to 2 inches thick, and we can build thicker edges or full slabs for a heavier look.
